The director behind the film, Manan Singh Katohora, says that two driving forces led him to make a film about homosexuality and Bollywood.

"My best friend from college is a lesbian and it took her five to seven years to come out to her family and colleagues," he says. "Also, in Bollywood, there are a lot of stories about famous actors and actresses that are afraid to come out because of the fear of what would happen to their career."
